Manners, traditions and implications in Tamil culture

It is not good manners to ask such a curious question; it means you are intruding in their privacy. After all everyone has a right to their privacy .

In India there is a tradition which we follow : we do not ask curious questions like where you are going and it has been inculcated from childhood that we should not ask as it is considered inauspicious to ask anyone where he is going.

Sometimes we have to teach good manners this way On the basis of religion, culture ,tradition and heritage. That way the Hinduism has laid a very strong foundation.

When is it appropriate to ask this question where are you going?

The person going should inform the other person who is at home or in the office or wherever on his own so he is expected to inform/ tell I am going to..

And here also it is a must that the person should say bye and go. The Tamil tradition also demands that they say the words" I am going "along with "I will be back" to sound auspicious. Poitu varen

Yes it is not just Bye it is see you also which is insisted.

The tradition expects that the person has to necessarily consider the feelings and expectations of the person left behind wondering where this other person is going ,when he will be back and what could be the reason for his going out and so on.

It is just the re-assurance that he will return and inform all the required details.

So the things are all well defined for both the person going out and the one who is remaining inside waving out as well.
